Giannis Nigerian Inspired Shoes Released

Photography By O’shane Howard

The Nike Zoom Freak 2 “NAIJA” colorway released this past weekend. Were you able to cop? Besides the shoe itself, the one piece of content that I enjoyed was the photography in this campaign. Nike and Foot Locker Canada gave Nigerian-Canadian Creative Director, Josef Adamu the opportunity to produce and direct this shoot. The photography came out great and I hope more brands continue use creatives in the culture to tell these authentic stories.

Per Josef’s Instagram (@josefadamu), he describes this opportunity, in his own words:

Honoured to be chosen to premiere the Zoom Freak 2 “NAIJA” shoe on behalf of @giannis_an34 🏆 — Giannis, thank you for motivating, inspiring, and empowering many of us through your journey and dedication to the game of basketball. ⁣

⁣This opportunity represents so much more than a sneaker by the reigning MVP. It celebrates our unity as a nation, our diversity through culture, our generational sacrifices, and most notably our victories. ⁣

⁣I’m all about community, and as a Nigerian-Canadian, I made it mandatory to share this moment with two young Flygerians with a bright future. Meet Grace Aghedo, and Marqus Oshunrinde. We came together and bonded over the game of basketball, our traditional upbringings, and the impact this story would have. This is what it’s all about.⁣

⁣A win for ONE is a win for ALL. #NoBeSmall💥
