In their first exhibition match in preparation for the upcoming Olympics in Tokyo in a few weeks, the Nigerian Men’s National team defeated Team USA 90-87. The victory surprised many throughout the sports world, but if you have been following this squad this outcome should be expected.

During the 2012 Olympics in London, Team USA embarrassed the Nigerian squad defeating them by 83 points (156-73). Nine years later, we see what a difference commitment, hard work, preparation, and experience can make. This squad is coached by Mike Brown who brings a ton of NBA coaching experience to this team. Another major difference is the amount of players on the Nigerian Men’s National Team with NBA experience. There are currently seven NBA players on the roster and this doesn’t even include some players who chose to play for other teams (we see you Bam lol). I’m excited to see how far the team will go in the Olympics.
