After trailing 1-0, Nigeria scored three straight goals to take control of the match. Despite Australia’s late goal in extra minutes, it was not enough to defeat the Super Falcons. Nigeria won the match 3-2 earning them the top spot of Group B (tied with Canada in points).

The three goals were scored by Uchenna Kanu (45+6’), Osinachi Ohale (65’), and Asisat Oshoala (72’). With the goal, Asisat Oshoala made history by becoming the first African footballer to score in three separate FIFA Women World Cups.

This dominant performance definitely put Nigeria on the map as a serious contender that the rest of the nations have to really prepare for.

With yesterday’s win, Nigeria need to tie in the final match of the group stage vs Ireland (Monday July 31st) to advance to the knock out round. One more to go, let’s go Super Falcons!!!!
