It feels like almost every week we read news about Chiney Ogwumike pushing the culture forward. From her national ESPN Radio show to being the Executive Producer for an upcoming ESPN Films WNBA documentary, Chiney exemplifies black excellence. It’s been so amazing to watch her growth and constantly elevate levels of success for women but black women in particular. With today being International Women’s Day, it was only fitting that the news broke today regarding her new commercial with Door Dash.
The WNBA is officially back. The season opener was this past Saturday taking place in the bubble at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida. Nneka Ogwumike led the Los Angeles Sparks to a win in their opening game vs the Phoenix Mercury. The Sparks won 99-76. Nneka was perfect from the field scoring 21 points (8/8 FGM) while grabbing 7 rebounds. Looking forward to watching Nneka continue to shine on and off the court for the rest season.
On September 10th, Nneka Ogwumike was awarded the Seasonlong WNBA Cares Community Assist Award for her work in the community.
Nneka said, “I hope that my passion for culture, education and women’s empowerment reaches the hearts and minds of young aspirers and helps them accomplish goals, achieve dreams and cultivate future generations of brilliance.” (WNBA)
Congrats to Nneka on receiving this award. It is truly amazing to see athletes continue to use their platform to make a positive impact on their communities.
