Arike Ogunbowale scored a career high 39 points last night (12/24 FG, 4-6 3PT, 11-12 FT) leading the Dallas Wing to a 101-94 win over the Washington Mystics. This included the game tying 3-pointer that Arike made in the 4th quarter sending the game into OT. We all know from her collegiate days that Arike is one of the clutchest players in the league. There was no surprise when that shot went down. Arike is the current leading scorer in the WNBA averaging 22.2 PPG.

On Friday night, Erica Ogwumike was drafted in the third round of the 2020 WNBA Draft by the New York Liberty. She was later traded to the Minnesota Lynx. Erica now joins her sisters Nneka & Chiney of the Los Angeles Sparks as the third Ogwumike sister in the WNBA. Congrats to the Ogwumike family on this amazing accomplishment. It is truly a blessing to have three sisters in the league playing at the same time especially when Nneka and Chiney are some of the faces/stars of the WNBA. Nneka is a former WNBA Most Valuable Player winner (2016),WNBA Champion (2016), and is the current Women’s National Basketball Players Association (WNBPA) President. Chiney is a two-time WNBA All Star and the Vice President of the WNBPA. Also, Chiney is becoming one of the rising sports personality and analyst in the business. Like her sisters, I expect nothing but great things for Erica both on and off the court. We will all be looking forward to the Lynx vs Sparks games once the WNBA season resumes.

On Friday, the Nigeria will face the USA in the Quarterfinals of the 2018 FIBA Women Basketball World Cup. For Nneka Ogwumike this will be a bittersweet game. Nneka is Nigerian, but she is playing for Team USA in this tournament. Here is her tweet about the game below:

I love how Nneka & her sister Chiney continue to embrace their Nigerian culture and are great role models young girls growing up. As Nneka stated this game shows everyone how much the game of basketball has grown in Nigeria. There’s so much talent in Nigeria and this will only be the beginning to matchups between Nigeria and the USA. Although, I want to see Nneka do well tomorrow, I’m rooting for Nigeria to pull off the upset.
