University of Southern California freshman star Onyeka Okongwu has decided to declare for the NBA Draft after a great freshmen season. Onyeka is currently one of the top prospects in the 2020 NBA Draft class. He is currently ranked the 6th overall prospect in the ESPN Top 100. If all goes well leading up to the NBA Draft, we should be hearing Onyeka name in the lottery.

Earlier this month at UFC 248, Israel Adesanya defended his title as the UFC Middleweight Champion in defeating Yoel Romero in a unanimous decision. The win brings Adesanya to a perfect record of 19-0-0 (14 KOs). In the past two years he has become one of the faces of the UFC not only because of his performance in the ring (which his record speaks for itself). But Adesanya also known as The Last Stylebender has the personality that matches his star talent. Check out the road to Adesanya rise to the top of the UFC in this video.

The NFL Draft is coming up next month (pending any changes given the current climate in the world) and teams are preparing to find the next stars to join their teams. The best cornerback in the 2020 class is Jeff Okudah from The Ohio State University. He is a complete cornerback and one of the best overall prospects in this draft class. Most mock drafts have Okudah as a top 10 draft pick. While some even have Okudah going in the top 5. Okudah definitely has the ability to make an immediate impact during his rookie season.

As of part of Under Armour new campaign The Only Way Is Through, current WBO, IBF, & WBA Heavyweight Champion Anthony Joshua shares his story of overcoming. We learn a lot about ourselves during failures. It was great to see that Joshua was comfortable enough to talk about one of the lowest moments in his professional boxing career. However, like any champion, the lost only made him stronger and he was able to triumph in the rematch to get back his championship title belts.
Continue readingFor Black History Month 2020, Nike NYC and OkayAfrica collaborated together to put on a basketball exhibition matchup between Nigeria and Ghana. The team included entertainers from both Nigeria and Ghana respectively. Of course Nigeria won the game. Lastly, shout out to the folks at Nike NYC and OkayAfrica for continuing to put the Diaspora on the map on a major scale with this event.
Maybe next year Ghana.
As Bam prepares for his first All Star game on Sunday, Bam took home some silverware as he won the 2020 Taco Bell Skills Challenge. Bam continues to showcase the full skillset that earned him his first NBA All Star appearance.

Miami Heat’s forward Bam Adebayo recorded his first career triple double last night to help the Heat defeat the Atlanta Hawks in OT 135 – 121. Bam put up 30 points, 11 rebounds, 11 assists, and 2 steals in over 43 minutes. This was Bam first career 30-point game as well. According to ESPN Stats & Info, Bam is the youngest Heat player to record a triple double at 22 years and 145 days old, breaking Heat’s legend Dwayne Wade record.

After leading the Toronto Raptors to the 2019 NBA Championship in June, Masai Ujiri brought the trophy back to Nigeria to celebrate with his family. Masai Ujiri, Toronto Raptors President, became the first African in a president or general manager role to lead a team in one of the four major American professional sports leagues to a championship. Ujiri was always viewed as one of the best President/GMs in the NBA and this championship validated that. HBO Real Sports did a great feature on Ujiri’s trip back to Africa this summer and also discussed his career journey. For the past sixteen years, Ujiri hosted a basketball camp in Africa called Giants of Africa. The camp teaches the campers fundamental basketball skills on the court but also life skills that will help excel off the court. Check out the full segment.
